Andy Weir (born 16 June 1972 in California) is an American programmer‑turned‑author best known for writing the science‑fiction novel 《火星救援》 (The Martian), which he originally posted online in 2009, released as a Kindle ebook in 2012 and went on to sell millions of copies worldwide and be translated into dozens of languages; the book was adapted into the 2015 film “The Martian,” directed by Ridley Scott with a screenplay by Drew Goddard, starring Matt Damon as astronaut Mark Watney alongside Jessica Chastain, Jeff Duncan, and other cast members, while Weir himself contributed as the original author and is also noted for his earlier work as a software engineer at Blizzard Entertainment, including involvement in the development of Warcraft II.
